Education and consciousness through art: Dance for personal growth and social transformation.
Teaching
Antonio Quiles gives workshops, courses and LAB of creation for groups and diverse collectives in institutions and public and private centers such as: Occupational Centers, Penitentiary Centers, professional theater and dance companies, universities, music conservatories, immigrant organizations, mental health centers, schools, etc.
Theoretical/practical workshops with an emphasis on the social role of art, focused on disseminating artistic tools for creation and expression and on a contemporary scenic language with different objectives depending on the groups we work with. They are therefore inclusive, participatory and eclectic workshops that adapt to the needs, interests, limitations and potential of each group.
We work with a mix of techniques and broad disciplines such as: Release, Contact, BMC, Clown, Butoh and theatrical and voice exercises, among others, using Improvisation as a technique to enhance decision making, listening to the present moment and connecting with the personal and social «here and now».
These are some of them. Of the workshops we offer:
- Workshop/LAB on «Stage Direction and Choreographic Composition».» a workshop on contemporary creation, body dramaturgy and stage presence.
- «Inclusive Creative Practices.» Training of trainers workshop on the use of Dance, Theater and Inclusion tools in education.

We prepare each workshop according to the group, time and space, taking into account the needs of the different groups and institutions. I approach the sessions as points of encounter with ourselves and with the group, with a diverse methodology and from an artistic and creative point of view. We work around identity, the relationship between the individual and society, the expression and communication of who we are and what we want, with the body and movement as an important and constitutive base of the intimate and social being.
I firmly believe, and I have experienced it during my years of professional activity, in art as a form of personal growth through a self-knowledge of who we are and an awareness of where we come from and what we want in the future. Likewise, I also believe in the capacity of art as one of the possible factors to be used for social transformation. An art that empowers the belief that a society of full inclusion is a more just, democratic and equitable society. Every society should aspire to a constant improvement in the conditions of equality, well-being and happiness of all its citizens. Educating, through an artistic conception that enhances this vision, giving a space and a voice to each person, helps to create individuals aware of their freedoms and responsibilities and more democratic, just and beautiful societies.
